30/11/2016 New settings for platform frame walls, improvement of the calculation of the connections, new NADs added, new materials added, dxf export improved and new standards for materials added

In the latest version of the software, we have added the following new features:

  • Added new calculation options for the framed walls. The user has now the ability to manually change some of the parameters used in the calculation method proposed in section 9.2.4.2 of EN 1995-1-1: to disable the limitations related to the aspect ratio of the panels in the famed walls, to impose a value of the calculation coefficient ci different from that calculated automatically by the software and to edit the value of the amplification factor of the lateral bearing capacity of the connectors (1,2) suggested by the European standard at paragraph (5). Therefore the user can now adapt the calculation method to the specifications present in some national standards (e.g. Swiss regulations).
  • Calculation of lateral load bearing capacity of the fasteners in the punched metals plates and straps both for tension and for shear forces: The calculation is performed using the Johansen theory giving the user the possibility to combine a connector (nail or screw) to a plate or a punched metal strap. The software automatically performs a series of checks on the compatibility between the connecting elements (plates) and the fasteners chosen by the user and it uses the correct set of formulas, respectively, for thin or thick plates. The total carrying capacity of the group of fasteners is now calcluated using the effective number of fasteners which is evaluated according to points 8.3.1.1 (8) and 8.5.1.1 (4) of the EN 1995-1-1.
  • Added the possibiity to use the screws for plates in tensile and shear connections with perforated plates
  • Improvement of the calculation of timber to timber connections: the user can now choose the method of installation of the metal fasteners (screws and nails): with or without pre-drilling.
  • New National Application Documents (NAD) added. The NADs of the following countries were added: Bulgaria, Denmark, Estonia, France, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland.
  • XLAM archive updated with new products
  • Improvement of the dxf exports: the wall elements and the pillars are now exported to the DXF file with the actual dimensions and thicknesses
  • Solid wood strength values updated: values updated according to EN 338: 2016
  • Bug fixing and small improvements

26/08/2016 Calculation of the lateral load carrying-capacity of metal fasteners taking into account the rope effect and addition of Würth punched metal plate

In the latest version of the software, we have added the following new features:

  • Enhanced calculation of the shear resistance of the metal fasteners: The lateral load carrying-capacity of metal dowel-type fasteners now takes into account the contribution of the rope effect in accordance to paragraph 8.2.2 of Eurocode 5. This improvement has effect, for example, on the calculation of the resistance of the connectors between the cladding sheet and the timber frame in framed walls and on the calculation of the vertical joints between the panels of  the segmented CLT walls. The user can edit the contribution to the load-carrying capacity due to the rope effect.
  • Addition of the punched metal straps and plates for shear and tensile forces produced by Würth: the user can now take advantage of a broader catalog of connections.
  • User personal area in English: The user’s personal page is now available in English
  • Updating and improvement of the online help (F1), the User Manual and Validation Manual: the online help, the user manual and the validation manual have been updated. These documents are now available in both Italian and English, you can also download the user manual from your personal page in pdf format
  • Bug fixing and small improvements

26/07/2016 Würth connections and fasteners, new types of connections and upgrade of user interface for connections definition

In the latest version of the software, we have added the following new features:

  • Würth connections and fasteners added: the user can now select the fasteners from a larger database. The connections produced by Würth which were added to the internal database are: hold-down, double hold-down, timber to concrete angle brackets, timber to timber angle brackets and screws for metal plates
  • New types of connections added: the user can now select and check new types of timber to concrete metal plates both for tensile and shear forces (i.e. Titan plate e WHT Plate) but also new angle bracket for tensile forces (i.e. Titan Washer)
  • CLT catalogs were updated: Hasslacher Norica Timber CLT panels added and Essepi XXL products updated to the new stratigraphies
  • User interface was enhanced for the definition of connections with anchors for concrete: the user can now define or edit the eccentricity coefficient value. This coeffcient takes into accout the additional moment due to the non-alignment between the external force acting on the vertical flange of the angle brackets and the group of anchors
  • Help (F1) improved and updated
  • Update of the calculation of the CLT walls vertical joints
  • The extruded viewer now shows the position of the tensile and shear connections, morover this elements are showed in the BIM export (IFC file)
  • Bug fixing and small improvements

20/06/2016 – 3D viewer with extruded view and export BIM

In the latest version of the software we have added the following new features:

  • 3D viewer: you can now view the structure in extruded 3D view. Such a function can be very useful to verify the dimensional proportions among the different structural elements, check the assignment relative to the cross sections and to the overall dimensions of the structural members.
  • BIM Export: you can now export the model in IFC format.
  • Bug fixing and small improvements

20/04/2016 Loads area definition

In the latest version of the software we have added the following new features:

  • Load areas definition: the user can define load areas to model loading values not constant on the floors
  • Manual definition of snow and wind loads: the user can define, even manually (in addition of the automatic mode), snow and wind loads also using the Italian Standard “Norme Tecniche per le Costruzioni”
  • Bug fixing and small improvements

23/03/2016 Print options of the report

In the latest version of the software we have added the following new features::
